Our Vision

Empowering Generations Through Education

Project Madagascar believes that education is key to breaking the poverty cycle. By providing access to quality, culturally-relevant education, we aim to equip students with the tools to change their futures — and their communities — for generations to come.

Where It All Began

Building since 2004

Project Madagascar was officially launched in 2004 with a bold 21-year vision to build and operate two Community & Learning Centres (CLCs) in Antananarivo, Madagascar. The plan: to provide not just buildings, but a sustainable education model for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

After multiple visits, the team selected Anosibe and Itaosy, two of the capital’s poorest neighbourhoods.

The Kindergarten Centre was initially built in the Anosibe Assembly of God Church Annex in 2003, and receive its first intake. Ground broke on the CLC site construction in May 2004 and the class moved to the new school building later that year. Each new year following that, a new grade was added to the school’s offering.

Five years later, Itaosy opened its doors and welcomed its first Kindergarten class.

Today, there are two fully established CLCs in Antananarivo, with classrooms for Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Empower Through Learning

What began as a single Kindergarten classroom has become two fully established Community & Learning Centres, now offering education from Kindergarten to Grade 12. These are safe, nurturing environments where learning meets compassion.

The Curriculum

Locally Designed.
Globally Informed.

The Malagasy staff started with the ACE South African competency-based model and developed a unique trilingual self-paced curriculum, specifically designed for local cultural needs and sensitivities.

Languages taught:

Malagasy: the heart language
French: the colonial language
English: the global language

This self-paced format allows students to keep learning even with extended absences due to family obligations or medical issues. And it’s not static — the curriculum is continuously reviewed to stay aligned with national and international standards.

While buildings were a key focus in the early days, the curriculum is the true legacy. It’s a resource gifted to the nation — culturally-relevant, forward-thinking, and future-proof.
